All Elite Wrestling’s fifth annual Full Gear pay-per-view event took place on Saturday, November 18, 2023, at the Kia Forum in Inglewood, California.
MJF retained the AEW World Championship by defeating Jay White in the main event of Full Gear. Adam Cole, who just came off two ankle surgeries, had initially been scheduled to defend the title on behalf of MJF following an attack on the World Champion by The Gunns on the Zero Hour pre-show.
Despite suffering the storyline knee/quad injury, MJF managed to escape the hospital, drive himself in an ambulance to the arena, and defeat White. Following the victory, MJF celebrated with Adam Cole. MJF’s victory is significant because it marks his 365th day as champion.
Chris Jericho and Kenny Omega defeated The Young Bucks (Matt Jackson & Nick Jackson) to earn a shot at the AEW World Tag Team Titles. The other stipulation of the match was that if Omega and Jericho lost, they would have to split up and Omega would rejoin The Elite.
Steve-O from Jackass was ringside for a trios match featuring Adam Copeland, Sting, and Darby Allin versus Nick Wayne, Luchasaurus, and TNT Champion Christian Cage.
The trio of Copeland, Allin, and Sting emerged victorious. The joy from Copeland, wearing painted face and performing double-team moves with Sting, was apparent. Ric Flair was also in their corner, and there was a point in the match when Christian low-blowed Flair but was chased out of the venue by Copeland. Post-match, Sting talked with his son, who was in the front row, and then celebrated with the crowd in what was his final match in the state of California before he retires at Revolution 2024.
Swerve Strickland prevailed over Hangman Adam Page in a grueling Texas Death Match. The match began with dancers performing Prince Nana’s signature dance for Strickland’s entrance. Swerve secured the victory over Page by choking him out and Page being unable to get up for a 10 count. Brian Cage and Nana assisted Strickland during the match.
Toni Storm emerged victorious over Hikaru Shida at AEW Full Gear to reclaim the AEW Women’s Championship. Storm won the match when she revealed a concealed small frying pan from her tights. She then executed a hip attack in the corner, propelling the frying pan into Shida’s face. Toni Storm’s victory starts her third reign as the AEW Women’s Champion.
Orange Cassidy retained his International Championship by defeating Jon Moxley via pin fall.
Ricky Starks and Big Bill retained the AEW World Tag Team Championships by defeating FTR (Dax Harwood & Cash Wheeler), Kings of the Black Throne (Malakai Black & Brody King), and La Facción Ingobernable (RUSH & Dralístico) in a four-way Ladder match.
