AJ Styles Set to Battle Naomichi Marufuji at NOAH Destination 2024

AJ Styles is set to make a significant return to Japan, as announced during a recent NOAH event in Yokohama. Through a video message, Styles revealed he would compete at the upcoming NOAH Budokan event on July 13, where he will face Naomichi Marufuji. This announcement follows a tease from NOAH about a “major announcement” in collaboration with WWE, highlighting the growing partnership between the two wrestling promotions.

The relationship between WWE and NOAH has been strengthening, particularly after the appointment of Yasuaki Okamoto as the new president of CyberFight, NOAH’s parent company. Okamoto has expressed a commitment to enhancing ties with WWE. This collaboration is evident as both promotions are aired on ABEMA, a network under the CyberFight umbrella.

WWE’s history of collaboration with NOAH was previously marked by Shinsuke Nakamura’s participation in NOAH’s New Year show in 2023, where he faced and defeated The Great Muta. Additionally, WWE has recently shown openness to collaborations with other wrestling promotions, as seen with Shayna Baszler and Charlie Dempsey’s appearances at GCW’s Bloodsport event during WrestleMania weekend.
