During a special SmackDown taping on Feb. 11, Sami Zayn defeated Shinsuke Nakamura to become the new Intercontinental Champion.
Zayn had been the #1 contender since winning the 12 Days of Christmas Gauntlet match on the December 24 SmackDown episode.
The WWE crew is set to travel to Saudi Arabia for the Elimination Chamber 2022 event, so the company taped tonight at the Smoothie King Center in New Orleans. The card featured the Intercontinental title bout between Shinsuke Nakamura and Sami Zayn.
This is Zayn’s third reign with the Intercontinental Title. The match will air on this Friday’s Smackdown.
