Bobby Lashley defeats Drew McIntyre at WrestleMania 37

Bobby Lashley retained his WWE Championship in the opening match of WrestleMania 37 on Saturday night, beating Drew McIntyre by forcing him to pass out via The Hurt Lock.

Towards the end of the match, Lashley ducked under a Claymore after distraction by MVP, allowing Lashley to lock in the Hurt Lock. McIntyre fired up and tried to kick off the turnbuckle and roll, but Lashley held on to the hold and continued to apply pressure until McIntyre went out to allow Lashley to retain.

This match was a stellar start to the night. The crowd was hot, which was important after a weather delay that could have sucked the air out of the building.
