AEW’s Cash Wheeler was taken into custody earlier today by authorities from the Orlando Police Department and charged with one count of aggravated assault with a firearm. Initial information about the apprehension was brought to light by the Orlando Sentinel.
Daniel Wheeler, better known in wrestling circles as Cash Wheeler, is a member of the tag team FTR with Dax Harwood. They hold the AEW tag-team championship.
Based on a sworn declaration provided to law enforcement, Daniel Matta was traveling west on I-4 near South Street during the morning of July 27. He then observed a Jeep Gladiator weaving through traffic behind him. This vehicle subsequently overtook him by utilizing the right shoulder of the road. He then noticed the driver, “a white male with a beard pointing a black semi-automatic handgun out of the driver’s window at him with a strong stare.” Matta later identified Wheeler as the driver.
Wheeler appeared in court Friday afternoon. Bail was set at $2,500, and Wheeler is forbidden from possessing a firearm or having contact with the alleged victims until the case is decided.
