Former WWE world champion Christian has officially signed with All Elite Wrestling.
Christian will work under the name Christian Cage in an announcement made at the Sunday pay-per-view Revolution. Cage originally went under the longer name in his early career but shortened it when he joined the World Wrestling Federation in the ’90s.
In the buildup to AEW Revolution Paul Wight teased the arrival of a Hall of Fame-caliber talent. Cage finally answered the question of who it was when he walked down the entrance ramp.
His debut on the show was short and sweet. Christian Cage came out to a remixed version of his old theme from TNA Wrestling with the slogan “Out Work Everyone” on the Tron. Christian Cage entered the ring, signed the contract, showed off his first AEW T-Shirt, and that was it. He departed without saying a word.
Christian Cage was last seen as a surprise entrant at the WWE Royal Rumble, reuniting with long-term partner and friend, Edge. Cage had a lengthy hiatus from wrestling due to concussions he had suffered.
Cage has won a number of titles across stints with WWE and Impact Wrestling. He’s a two-time NWA world heavyweight champion and held WWE’s World Heavyweight Championship on two occasions.
