CM Punk reportedly ‘in talks’ over WWE return

In the most recent edition of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Dave Meltzer addressed the rumors surrounding CM Punk’s potential comeback to WWE. He not only substantiates the rumors but also engages in speculation regarding the timing and location of Punk’s return.

“Regarding C.M. Punk, there is obviously tons of talk regarding him returning,” Meltzer wrote. “There have been rumors that it’s happening, but those in WWE have only said that no deal is completed and those close to Punk have told us that it is his intention to return and the two sides are in talks. One would expect if such a deal is made that Survivor Series weekend in Chicago would be the time to do the surprise return.”

WWE will hold its annual Survivor Series show, one of its biggest events of the year, in Punk’s hometown of Chicago on Nov. 25.

Punk left WWE in 2014 over disagreements the way his health was handled, creative differences and pay. After seven years, Punk signed with AEW in 2021, but his contract was terminated at the start of September this year. The decision to terminate Punk’s contract followed an investigation into an altercation between Punk and Jack Perry backstage at AEW All In.
