Edge praises Sheamus after WWE SmackDown match

In what could possibly be Edge‘s last match, he defeated Sheamus on SmackDown this past Friday in Toronto and he is thankful for sharing the ring with him.

When issuing the challenge to Sheamus, Edge mentioned that his participation in Sheamus’ Celtic Warrior Workouts was the driving force behind his decision to make a comeback to the WWE in 2020. Edge expressed that the time they spent training together for the return forged a sense of extended family with Sheamus.

After their SmackDown match, Edge took a moment to contemplate the experience and shared his thoughts in an Instagram post on Sunday. Edge said that while he had always recognized Sheamus’ greatness, it wasn’t until they went head-to-head that he truly grasped the extent of it. Edge hailed Sheamus as the embodiment of an unwavering work ethic and said that wrestling him was pure joy.

Edge said:

Full circle pints of Guiness. From Dublin to Toronto and 19 years in between. Back now after an amazing trip home to Toronto. What can I say? I’ll take that experience with me to the grave. Toronto you brought it. Speaking of bringing it, @wwesheamus is a beast. As strange as this sounds it was pure joy in there. Just two buds beating the hell out of each other. I knew he was great. But I didn’t know how great. That dude is so insanely talented, spectacular at what he does, and just a damn hard worker. He is the epitome of work ethic. Can’t teach that. Thanks fella. It was an honor.
