Jim Ross’ AEW contract is set to expire in the coming weeks, and it is not yet known if he will be re-signed by AEW, re-join the WWE or retire from wrestling commentary.
Ross signed a three-year deal with AEW in April 2019 and reportedly extended it for another year and a half in May 2022.
Ross has been absent from AEW television since June 17, 2023, when he suffered a fall before the debut of AEW Collision. He recently returned to the commentary table for the main event of the August 5 episode of AEW Collision.
In July 2023, Ross spoke about his return plans saying that AEW ‘All In’ from the iconic Wembley Stadium in London, England, on Sunday, August 27 2023, was his goal. He has also said that he is not ready to retire from wrestling commentary just yet.
Jim Ross, also known as JR or Good Ol’ JR, is considered to be one of the greatest wrestling commentators of all time. He is a member of the WWE Hall of Fame and he has won numerous awards for his work, including the Wrestling Observer Newsletter Award for Best Television Announcer 10 times.
