John Cena makes his return at Money in the Bank

John Cena made his long-awaited return to WWE tonight at the end of the Money in the Bank pay-per-view, confronting Roman Reigns after ‘The Tribal Chief’ defeated Edge to retain the Universal Championship.

Towards the end of the match, The Usos came out to assist Roman, only to be taken out by The Mysterios. Still with no referee in the match, Seth Rollins ran in and superkicked Edge before walking off.

Reigns went for a spear, but Edge hit one of his own as a new referee had to run to the ring. This gave Reigns enough time to kick out. Seth Rollins then returned to the ring again, drawing Edge to kick him from the ring apron and allowing Reigns to hit a spear to retain his title.

After defeating Edge, Roman Reigns went to saying what the whole world had to “acknowledge him” before Cena interrupted him. He stood in the ring and looked at Reigns and then the show ended as Cena posed on the middle turnbuckle.

John Cena was last seen in WWE at the WrestleMania 36 event at the Performance Center in April 2020. At the show, Cena was defeated by ‘The Fiend’ Bray Wyatt in the first-ever Firefly Fun House match.
