Nevada issues indoor mask mandate ahead of SummerSlam in Las Vegas

Governor Steve Sisolak of Nevada today announced an indoor mask mandate for 12 counties including Clark County, home to Allegiant Stadium and WWE’s Summerslam event.

There is no word on how, if at all, this will affect the WWE SummerSlam event. Allegiant Stadium is technically an outdoor venue if the roof is not on it.

The mandate is being adopted in accordance with CDC guidance. Governor Sisolak noted in his announcement via Twitter, “Nevadans & visitors, please see the latest update below. Let’s mask up to keep one another safe. And if you haven’t yet, get your COVID-19 vaccine. Visit NVCOVIDFighter.org to find a clinic near you.”

According to Eater.com, a new report was released on Monday, July 26 that showed 1,124 new cases and 17 deaths all located in Clark County. The mandate starts at 12:01 a.m. on Friday, July 30.

The mask mandate is being done to help reduce the number of COVID-19 infections. The state dropped a previous mask mandate in May, 2021 and at the time suggested that only vaccinated people could remove their masks.
