According to Mike Johnson of PWInsider, WWE is reportedly planning to overhaul NXT with a new look, a new format and an emphasis on younger talent.
“There has been lots of talk internally of major changes for the NXT brand including a new logo, new lighting, a focus on younger talents and a different format to the TV shows,” Johnson wrote. “This housecleaning tonight appears to be part of those changes.”
The releases this past week are reportedly part of the planned changes to the NXT brand.
Fans were recently shocked to learn when the company released Bobby Fish, Bronson Reed, Mercedes Martinez and many more. Despite the rise in NXT’s popularity over the years and the WWE insisting that it was a third brand, actions such as these serve as a reminder that NXT, at the end of the day is still a developmental brand.
