Robert Roode undergoes neck fusion surgery

Robert Roode is on the road to recovery after he underwent neck fusion surgery in Birmingham, Alabama.

Roode posted photos to Instagram after his surgery, which he indicated was for fusion to his C-5 and C-6 vertebrae.

A neck fusion procedure is a surgery to remove a herniated or degenerative disc in the neck. An incision is made in the throat area to reach and remove the disc. A graft is then inserted to fuse together the bones above and below the disc.

Roode wrote on Instagram: “Big thank you to Dr Andy Cordover and his amazing staff at @andrews_sports_medicine and St Vincent’s Hospital in Birmingham Alabama. C5/6 fusion is complete. Now the work begins. Recovery and Rehabilitation. Looking forward to the challenge.”

Roode last wrestled in June and has not appeared on WWE TV since the Andre the Giant Memorial Battle Royal on the April 1st edition of Friday Night SmackDown.
