According to a new report from Sean Ross Sapp on Fightful Select, Roderick Strong has asked for his release from the WWE multiple times over the past few months.
Per the report, Strong has grown frustrated with many things over the past year within the company. Despite his requests, they have been denied by the company and Strong has voiced his frustrations behind the scenes.
“There were many within the company that were surprised that Strong was not included in the April 29 round of NXT releases as he’d made it clear to WWE that he wanted out,” Sapp noted.
Strong has been in NXT for almost 6 years. The former NXT North American, Cruiserweight and Tag Team Champion was the only member of the Undisputed Era to not leave the company in 2021. All of his Undisputed Era teammates (Adam Cole, Bobby Fish, and Kyle O’Reilly) are now regularly featured on AEW television.
