Ronda Rousey Makes Ring of Honor Debut

Ronda Rousey and Marina Shafir joined forces to defeat Athena and Billie Starkz in a tag team match at the November 17 Ring of Honor tapings in Los Angeles. The match took place after Friday’s live AEW Collision & Rampage shows at The Forum.

Rousey’s appearance at the ROH tapings follows her match at Wrestling REVOLVER Unreal, where she teamed with Marina Shafir to face Athena and Billie Starkz. The match ended in disqualification after Athena struck Rousey with the ROH Women’s Title.

Rousey was born in Riverside, California, on February 1, 1987. She began training in judo at the age of 11, and quickly rose through the ranks. She won a bronze medal at the 2008 Summer Olympics in Beijing, becoming the first American woman to win an Olympic medal in judo.

After her Olympic success, Rousey transitioned to mixed martial arts. She quickly made a name for herself in the UFC, becoming the first female bantamweight champion. She held the title for six years, defending it six times before losing to Amanda Nunes in 2015.

Rousey retired from MMA in 2016, and signed with WWE in 2017. She and made her debut at the WrestleMania 34 pay-per-view and won the Raw Women’s Championship in 2018. She also won the the SmackDown Women’s title twice, and the WWE Women’s Tag Team titles with Shayna Baszler.

Rousey left WWE in October 2023 after she lost to Baszler in an MMA Rules match at SummerSlam 2023.
