Sami Zayn and Kevin Owens are the new WWE Undisputed tag team champions

In the main event of night one of Wrestlemania 39, The Usos took on Sami Zayn and Kevin Owens for the Undisputed tag team championship. This was the first ever tag team title main event in WrestleMania history.

Kevin Owens and Sami Zayn are both honoring Los Angeles-based indie promotion PWG (Pro Wrestling Guerrilla) on their wrestling shorts. PWG has been hugely influential for many current WWE and AEW stars, from AJ Styles and Bryan Danielson to Owens and Zayn to Ricochet and Gunther.

The story of the match were the Usos inflicting major damage on Zayn. The Usos connected on multiple superkicks on Zayn, then after Owens disrupted their Day 1 finisher, The Usos throw Owens through the announce table. Later in the match Jey lands the Helluva Kick, Zayn’s finisher, on Zayn in the corner. He tells him he should have never left the Bloodline.

Zayn would get his revenge and hit Jey with an apron brainbuster, a swanton bomb from Owens to Jimmy Uso and an Uso style splash from Zayn to Jimmy Uso had the audience going crazy. Fans showed their appreciation as chants of “This is Awesome” rang through the arena.

Towards the end of the match, a carousel of super kicks set up yet another near-fall after The Usos hit Owens with their finisher. Owens would then hit a Fisherman’s Buster off the top rope. This allowed Zayn to land three consecutive Helluva Kicks to Jey Uso for the three count and Undisputed WWE Tag Team titles! After 622 days, The Usos have been dethroned.
