Shad Gaspard will be the recipient of this year’s Warrior Award at the WWE Hall of Fame.
Named after WWE Hall of Famer The Ultimate Warrior, The Warrior Award is presented to an individual who has exhibited unwavering strength and perseverance and who lives life with the courage and compassion.
Gaspard’s award comes after his tragic death in May 2020. Gaspard and his son were swimming off Venice Beach when they got caught by a rip current.
With waves nearly eight-feet tall crashing down on them, when lifeguards made their way to the two it’s reported Gaspard’s final words were “save my son.” Gaspard then unfortunately drowned before the lifeguards could make their way back to him. His body was discovered several days later. He was 39 years old.
The Warrior Award presentation will be part of the WWE Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony, Friday, April 1, at American Airlines Center in Dallas as part of WrestleMania Week.
