On January 1st, Shawn Spears is scheduled to leave All Elite Wrestling as a free agent. The departure is described as amicable, with Spears stating that it was a personal choice and the best decision for him and his family at this time.

He later verified this information via his social media accounts.

Spears wrote:

What a wonderful time it has been.

Thank you @AEW for allowing me to be there from the ground level. It’s been a fantastic 5 years of growth and personal development.

This is a personal choice and one that is best for me and my family at this time.

Shawn Spears joined AEW in 2019. In the early stages of his AEW career, he had a notable feud with Cody Rhodes, and later became a part of The Pinnacle faction, led by MJF.

Throughout his time in AEW, Spears has had various opportunities to showcase his skills and develop his character. He participated in high-profile matches, such as the Blood and Guts match in 2021, where The Pinnacle faced off against The Inner Circle.However, in recent months, Spears has been used sparingly on AEW television and has not been i nvolved in any major storylines.
