During the Saturday press conference for Survivor Series, Triple H said the process of bringing CM Punk back to WWE happened remarkably fast.
“This came together super quick,” he said “There was a lot of speculation, it really didn’t come into fruition until everybody stopped thinking it was going to hpapen, then all of a sudden, it was happening.”
“Love him, hate him, positive, negative, people talk about him all the time,” he also said. “He’s a magnet for that. He’s a conversation starter, and it’s hard to look past that. If our fans want it, if the WWE Universe is excited to have it, let’s go.”
Triple H also said that both he and CM Punk are different people today than they were when CM Punk left the WWE in 2014 that ended on bad terms.
“I’m a different person. He’s a different person. It’s a different company, we’re all on the same even starting ground,” he said.
Months after his departure from AEW, CM Punk shocked fans with an unexpected return during the closing moments of Saturday’s WWE Survivor Series. As the men’s WarGames main event concluded and the show neared its end, the sound of “Cult of Personality” filled the arena. Dressed in a simple white t-shirt and jeans, Punk emerged to a thunderous ovation from the crowd at Chicago’s United Center.
