Vince McMahon is currently facing a federal investigation related to accusations of sex trafficking and sexual misconduct made by a former employee, according to sources acquainted with the situation. “Sometime in the summer,” McMahon received a grand jury subpoena, the sources said.
The investigation is being spearheaded by the US Attorney’s Office for the Southern District of New York, with The Wall Street Journal being the first to report on its existence.
The specifics of the investigation remain uncertain, though it might pertain to financial matters, following a report by the newspaper in 2022 that McMahon consented to pay over $12 million over the last twenty years to resolve claims of sexual misconduct.
Last week, McMahon stepped down from his position at WWE following accusations from a former employee, Janel Grant, in a legal filing. Grant alleged McMahon subjected her to “psychological torture and physical violence” and made “depraved sexual demands” as a condition of her employment. The lawsuit further charged McMahon with facilitating Grant’s exploitation to other WWE staff, detailing alleged incidents and including explicit text messages.
McMahon has denied Grant’s allegations.
