WWE 2K24 Celebrates 40 Years Of Wrestlemania, New Match Types, And Release Date Revealed

WWE 2K24 Reveals Cover Stars, New Match Types, Release Date, and More

Cody Rhodes’ story isn’t finished yet, but he is set to feature on the standard edition cover of WWE 2K24. Meanwhile, Rhea Ripley and Bianca Belair will adorn the cover of the WWE 2K24 deluxe edition, marking the first occasion two women have been featured on the cover of a WWE video game.

“I’ve been known to keep a checklist of key milestones I want to experience on the path to finishing my story,” Rhodes said in a press release. “As an avid gamer, being named WWE 2K cover Superstar is very, very close to the top of that list and I’m very happy to work with the teams at 2K and Visual Concepts to bring that dream to life.”

The deluxe edition and Forty Years of WrestleMania editions are scheduled for release worldwide on March 5. The standard and standard cross-gen digital edition will come out March 8.

Preordering the standard edition unlocks special bonuses, featuring the Nightmare Family DLC pack. This pack comes with two classic Cody Rhodes personas – “Undashing” and “Stardust” – as well as a 1976-era Dusty Rhodes model, commemorating the wrestling icon. Additionally, “Superstar” Billy Graham, a notable adversary of Dusty Rhodes, will be playable. The DLC pack enriches the MyFaction digital card game with three unique cards and, notably, includes a digital version of WWE 2K23, last year’s game. The price for the standard edition is set at $60.

Launching on March 5, a few days ahead of the standard release, the Deluxe Edition showcases WWE Women’s World Champion Rhea Ripley and former WWE Women’s Champion Bianca Belair on its cover. This edition encompasses all features of the standard edition and adds an array of enhancements to the MyRise career mode, along with exclusive MyFaction cards featuring the cover superstars. The Deluxe Edition is priced at $100.

Also debuting on March 5 is the Forty Years of Wrestlemania Edition. This special version presents a montage of the most iconic Wrestlemania stars from the last forty years, incorporating all features from the standard and deluxe editions. It comes with an additional DLC pack that includes wrestlers in their memorable Wrestlemania outfits and an extensive collection of MyFaction cards. Unique to this edition, players will gain access to download this year’s Wrestlemania 40 arena for in-game use after the event. The Forty Years of Wrestlemania Edition is priced at $120.

WWE 2K24 has four new match types: Ambulance, Special Guest Referee, Casket, and Gauntlet, alongside enhancements to existing match formats. Notably, the Backstage Brawl has been upgraded to accommodate up to four players and includes more interactive gameplay elements. Additionally, the Royal Rumble now features eight-player online capability. WarGames, Hell in a Cell, TLC, and Extreme Rules are set to make a return.

New gameplay features include Super Finishers, a mini-game for trading blows, and the ability for players to execute top rope dives onto groups of opponents outside the ring. The game also introduces double title matches, innovative Paybacks, and a variety of new weapon types, including trash cans, guitars, and microphones, with the added dynamic of weapon throwing.

MyRise is back, introducing two fresh narratives for players to explore. The MyGM mode sees significant enhancements, including the addition of more General Managers, diverse match types, various championships, and an innovative Superstar Journey feature, which allows talents to gain experience points and level up through training and match participation. MyFaction has been updated to feature ranked online Quickplay, offering unique rewards and seasonal leaderboards for competitive play.

Universe mode now boasts more dynamic rivalry options, including run-ins, opportunities for Money in the Bank cash-ins, and newly added cutscenes. Players can also engage in new match stipulations such as Double Title matches, Special Guest Referee matches, and Loser Leaves Town matches. The Creation Suite has been upgraded to allow for the creation of referees and crowd signs, alongside new parts and animations for customizing Superstars, entrances, arenas, and more, enriching the game’s customization capabilities.

The Character Creation Suite in WWE 2K24 is touted as the franchise’s “most comprehensive, detailed, and superior creation suite” to date, featuring new additions such as Create-a-Referee and Create-a-Sign. It also introduces an array of new parts and animations for a wide range of elements including Superstars, General Managers, entrances, and championships. Additionally, the game sees enhancements in its visuals and camera angles across the board, promising an improved visual experience throughout.
