WWE Payback 2023 will take place during the Labor Day weekend on Saturday, September 2, 2023, at the PPG Paints Arena in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, and will be the first Payback held since 2020.
A key match on the show revolves around the aftermath of a six-man tag match, during which Nakamura shocked everyone by betraying Rollins. Rollins then openly challenged Nakamura to a title match “whenever.”
Amidst the speculations regarding Nakamura’s motive, Nakamura explicitly stated his desire for the World Heavyweight Title. The two Superstars came face-to-face and agreed to battle for the championship gold.
Before their clash, both Superstars held a deep respect for one another. Now the situation has clearly changed and will only serve to intensify their match.
Becky Lynch will meet Trish Stratus in a Steel Cage match. Stretching back to shortly after WrestleMania, this ongoing rivalry stands as one of WWE’s lengthiest feuds and is set to reach its climax at Payback.
In the Women’s World Championship showdown, Rhea Ripley, the reigning champion, takes on Raquel Rodriguez. Through a series of intense face-offs, Ripley managed to impose a knee injury on Rodriguez. Even Liv Morgan, Rodriguez’s partner, fell victim to Ripley’s aggression. Following their recovery, Rodriguez issued a challenge to Ripley for a title match at Payback.
