WWE SmackDown results from May 17, 2024

In the WWE King and Queen of the Ring main event in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia on Saturday, May 25, only the undisputed WWE champion Cody Rhodes will have his title on the line.

Initially, both Rhodes and United States champion Logan Paul were to stake their titles, as planned by SmackDown general manager Nick Aldis. However, during a contract signing on SmackDown, Paul and his lawyer presented a revised contract that stipulated only Rhodes’ championship would be at stake.

Despite Aldis’s objections, Rhodes agreed to the amended terms, leading to him clotheslining Paul out of the ring and powerbombed one of his entourage members through a table.

Additionally, four matches took place to determine the semifinalists in both the men’s and women’s tournaments for King and Queen of the Ring.

Here’s what happened on WWE SmackDown:

  • Bianca Belair defeated Tiffany Stratton via pinfall after hitting the KOD, advancing to the Queen of the Ring semifinals.
  • Solo Sikoa told Paul Heyman he speaks to Roman Reigns “all the time” when asked by the Wiseman.
  • Tama Tonga defeated LA Knight via pinfall, advancing to the King of the Ring semifinals, thanks to a distraction by Solo Sikoa.
  • Nia Jax defeated Jade Cargill via disqualification after Cargill hit Jax with a steel chair. Jax swung with the chair first, but Cargill caught it and delivered the final blow. Jax advances to the Queen of the Ring semifinals.
  • #DIY (Johnny Gargano and Tommaso Ciampa) defeated Legado del Fantasma (Angel Garza and Humberto Carrillo) via pinfall after hitting Meet in the Middle on Carrillo.
  • Randy Orton defeated Carmelo Hayes via pinfall with an RKO, advancing to the King of the Ring semifinals.
